The Friends of the Civic Center organization is kicking off a petition drive this week to place an advisory referendum on the April election ballot encouraging the City Council to keep the headquarters of Evanston city government right where it is.
The Friends of the Civic Center organization is kicking off a petition drive this week to place an advisory referendum on the April election ballot encouraging the City Council to keep the headquarters of Evanston city government right where it is.
John B. Kennedy, an organizer of the group, says they’ll need about 2,200 petition signatures to get the issue on the ballot. He says the group is organizing party for Jan. 21, the day before the petition filing deadline, to collect the petitions and get them notarized.
