The line stretched out the door Tuesday night at HomeMade Pizza on Central Street in Evanston as friends and neighbors of Kingsley School teacher Chris Short turned out to show their support.

The event was a fundraiser to help cover costs that aren’t met by insurance as Short battles pancreatic cancer.

HomeMade Pizza spokeswoman Molly Lynch says the company promised to donate $5 for every large pizza and $2 for every salad sold.  Lynch says it turned out to be HomeMade’s busiest night in 13 years – not just in Evanston but across the country.
