It’s back to work this week for local government bodies after the long holiday weekend.

Evanston aldermen will talk about whether to ban video gaming machines in the city when they meet as the City Council’s Rules Committee in the aldermanic library at 6 p.m. tonight. Also on the agenda — a staff report on whether to provide online streaming video of City Council meetings.

The council’s Human Services Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the council chambers. It is scheduled to get an update on the city’s “response to hoarding complaints.” The initial response from city staff — a proposal to limit residents to no more than four cats — got nowhere after animal lovers raised a fuss about it.

The District 65 school board meets tonight at 7 p.m. at the administration building. The board will be talking about a new student information system, among other things. The meeting will be carried live on Evanston cable channel 19.

And, Wednesday night the Plan Commission will discuss whether to bar membership organizations and religious institutions from locating in industrial zones.
