Two runners from Evanston — Brad Garron and Roland Amarteifio — have qualified for the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Region 7 competition set for July 9-12 at Illinois Benedictine University in Lisle.

At the qualifying meet held June 26-28 in Lisle, Garron raced to top honors in the age 16-18 group with victories in the 100 meters in 11.55 seconds, in the 200 in a personal best 21.83, and in the 400 in 49.73.

Amarteifio advanced by placing first in the 110 hurdles in 14.50 and also captured second in the 400 hurdles in 57.31.

Also representing Evanston but not advancing were Morgan Brown, first in the discus (147 feet, 2 inches) and second in the shotput (personal best 44-8); Owen Ennis, sixth in the 400 hurdles in 65.86; and Jonathan Wilburn, second in the triple jump at 41-6.
