Evanston city officials say a leak in a high pressure gas line at Garrett Place and Sheridan Road forced the evacuation of residents in the area for a while this morning and closed Garrett to traffic.

The situation is reported under control now. Residents have been allowed to return. But Nicor is still working to repair the line.
