Evanston Township High School’s girls track and field team won the IHSA State Championship in both the 4×400 relay and the 4×200 relay with the second fastest time recorded in IHSA meet history.

The team also took home a second place finish in the 4×100 relay to lift the Wildkits to an overall eighth place finish as a team in the IHSA State Girls Track & Field Meet.

This marks the 27th time in ETHS history that our girls finished in the Top 10, the highest in the state of Illinois.  The girls are coached by Fenton Gunter who has led the Wildkits to seven IHSA State Championships in his 21-year career as head coach.

Top: Track team members: freshman Parker English, juniors Margaret Bamgbose and Jahnell Horton, and seniors Alexa Bolden and Danyale Griffin.

  1. Cheers to Coach Gunter and the ETHS Girls Track Team

Coach Gunter is an Evanston treasure. I had the honor of playing for him as a freshman on his football team. Not only was he a great coach, he was a great teacher. His life lessons stick with me today.

I also have great memories of being "punished" by Fenny. After losing a game, I asked him what we we're going to do. He quickly replied "Ya'll gonna run." And run we did.

All the best to you Coach!!!!
