Mild temperatures and flat terrain were undoubtedly contributors to reports since Friday of seven thefts of bicycles in Evanston. These among stories in today’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.
BURGLARY
200 Dewey
A black Rally hybrid bicycle was taken from an unlocked garage of a home in the 200 block of Dewey Avenue between 4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.
900 Ridge
A black Trek X-Calibur 7 bicycle was taken from the unlocked garage of a home in the 900 block of Ridge Court between 5 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Friday.
900 Mulford
A black Giant bicycle, along with some power tools, were taken from the unlocked garage of a home in the 900 block of Mulford Street around 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
THEFT
700 Seward
A maroon Schwinn bicycle was taken from a home in the 700 block of Seward Street around 8:40 p.m. yesterday.
1600 Sherman
A gray Giant bicycle that was secured to a light pole was stolen from the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday.
1500 Oak
A red racing bicycle secured to a bike rack in the 1500 block of Oak Avenue was stolen around midnight on Sept. 19.
300 Ridge
A red Schwinn bicycle that was secured to a bike rack in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue was stolen between 2:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday.
A thief used a tool to cut the lock on a Ninebot electric scooter secured to a bike rack in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday.
A 2010 Mercedes Benz was taken from a garage in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue by unknown means between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday.
800 Davis
Food items were taken from a convenience store in the 800 block of Davis Street around 10:25 a.m. yesterday.
1100 Chicago
Alcoholic products were stolen from the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
1600 Sherman
A lock and cash were taken from a secured locker in a gym in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 12:50 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. Thursday.
1400 Judson
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2008 Toyota in the 1400 block of Judson Avenue around 3 a.m. yesterday.
1800 Maple
A computer and a backpack were stolen from a room at the Hilton Garden Inn on Maple Avenue between 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. yesterday.
1700 Sherman
A robber demanded money, then took the tip jar and fled a store in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
BATTERY
1324 Sherman
Khlid Q. Adnan, 22, of 3864 Fargo Ave., Skokie, was arrested at 1324 Sherman Ave. at 11:28 a.m. Friday and charged with domestic battery.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
1100 Sherman
Someone damaged the window of a home in the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue by throwing a rock at it between 8 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
1100 Maple
Windows of property under construction in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue were found broken at 11 p.m. Friday.
1400 Hartrey
Someone damaged the windshield and scratched a 2016 Lexus in the 1400 block of Hartrey Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 24 and 11 a.m. the following day.
1400 Oak
Someone damaged a 2020 Kia in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue by keying it between midnight Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
1800 Hovland
A screen and furniture were damaged by unknown means at a home in the 1800 block of Hovland Court around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
800 Oakton
Someone turned on a fire alarm, activating sprinklers, at an apartment building in the 800 block of Oakton Street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on July 16.
TRAFFIC
355 Ridge
Miguel Acatitla-Palma, 41, of 7600 N. Bosworth Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 355 Ridge Ave. at 11:30 p.m. Friday and charged with driving under the influence.
Ridge at Greenleaf
Paula Nation, 35, of 1727 Brown Ave., was arrested at Ridge Avenue and Greenleaf Street at 4:09 p.m.Thursday and charged with a traffic violation.
900 Sheridan
Johanna L. Seaton, 28, of 202 Hickory Ave., Romeoville, was arrested at 900 Sheridan Road at 2:23 a.m. Saturday and charged with driving under the influence.
1400 Dodge
Joshua B. Vialdores-Williams, 25, of 1510 Chicago Ave., was arrested at 1400 Dodge Ave. at 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 26 and charged with a traffic violation.
Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
