The Evanston Community Media Center is holding open auditions Saturday evening for its Evanston Idol talent show.

Organizers say the show is open to singers, musicians, jugglers, standup comics, ventriloquists, magicians, poets and performance artists.

The auditions are being held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the media center studios at 1285 Hartrey Ave. And musicians are being asked to bring only “unplugged” acoustic instruments.

The show itself will be broadcast live on cable channel 6 in Evanston on Oct. 30 and the winner, selected by a panel of three judges, will receive a professionally produced five-minute DVD highlighting their talents.

The media center, a non-profit organization, is also holding a silent auction fundraiser in conjunction with the talent show. If you’re interested in donating an item to the auction, call 847-361-2600.
