A black 2015 BMW was stolen in the 1000 block of Austin Street, but found a short time later a few blocks away with the help of a GPS tracking device. This among the stories in today’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.

THEFT

1000 Austin

A black 2015 BMW was stolen from the 1000 block of Austin Street around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The owner activated a GPS tracking device to locate the vehicle, which police recovered a short time later in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue.

800 Forest

Someone stole a package delivered to an apartment common area in the 800 block of Forest Avenue around noon on Monday.

700 Church

An unattended backpack was taken from a chair in a restaurant in the 700 block of Church Street around 3:15 p.m. Monday.

1100 Chicago

A victim’s wallet was taken at the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, but was recovered without the cash that the victim said was in it.

1600 Orrington

Unattended clothing items were taken from a salon in the 1600 block of Orrington Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

1600 Sherman

A Bluetooth speaker was stolen from a restaurant in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

1700 Grey

Various personal items were taken from an apartment in the 1700 block of Grey Avenue between Saturday and Tuesday.

700 Mulford

Packages delivered to an apartment common area in the 700 block of Mulford Street were stolen around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 19.

ASSAULT

1305 Pitner

Barry L. Hill, 58, of 1305 Pitner Ave., was arrested at that address at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday and charged with assault. He is due in court on Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m.

BURGLARY

900 McDaniel

A phone charger was stolen from an unlocked 2014 Honda in the 900 block of McDaniel Avenue between 4:16 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday.

2500 Prairie

Someone entered a basement storage area in the 2500 block of Prairie Avenue between Dec. 3 and yesterday and stole a television set, electronics, and a bicycle.

1800 Chancellor

Someone entered an unlocked 2017 Audi in the driveway of a home in the 1800 block of Chancellor Street between 3 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 p.m. yesterday and stole personal items and electronics that were inside.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

1400 Elmwood

Someone damaged the rear taillights of a vehicle in a city parking lot in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.

GRAFFITI

1500 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered on an external wall of a building in the 1500 block of Chicago Avenue at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

1200 Isabella

Sprayed paint was discovered on a utility box in the 1200 block of Isabella Street at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday.

600 Mulford

Sprayed paint was discovered on a utility box in the 600 block of Mulford Street at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.

OTHER

806 Dempster

Michael R. Molitor, 56, of 1136 Pitner Ave., was arrested at 806 Dempster St. at 11:23 p.m. yesterday and again at 2:03 a.m. today and charged with violation of an order of protection.

1020 Austin

Anthony G. Munsey-Johnson, 20, of 538 Custer Ave., was arrested at 1020 Austin St. at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday and charged with resisting or obstructing an officer.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
