The Fish Keg restaurant on the Chicago side of Howard Street suffered a grease fire shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.

The restaurant at 2333 Howard, well known to generations of Evanstonians who’ve crossed the city line to get their fish fix, apparently wasn’t seriously damaged by the fire, which was handled by a Chicago Fire Department engine company.

Not known yet how long it may take for the restaurant to reopen.

Evanston police units assisted with traffic control at the scene.
