Green business gets new name

Evanston-based Aspen Green, LLC has a new name — Chicago Energy Solutions, LLC.

Evanston-based Aspen Green, LLC has a new name — Chicago Energy Solutions, LLC.

Company President Nicholas Patinkin says, "We were looking for a name that more accurately reflected the nature of the service we provide our clients."

The firm, at 825 Chicago Ave., specializes in energy-efficient solutions for commercial building owners and homeowners. Services range from energy risk management and energy modeling to product sales and general contracting for the installation of renewable energy systems.

Patinkin says energy audits have proven effective for reducing building operating costs and insulating businesses against price volatility in energy markets. While solutions and consultation services may incur upfront costs, the generated savings from even the most basic solutions often pay for themselves in a year or less.

Solutions like LED lighting can cost anywhere from $40-$180 per unit but deliver impressive results, operating at a fraction of the wattage of both incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs while offering a life expectancy of up to 20 years, he says.  Renewable energy systems can take several years to pay for themselves but can substantially reduce dependence on fossil fuels while increasing price security.

Chicago Energy Solutions is installing a solar thermal system at the Willye B. White Community Center for the Chicago Park District and is also involved in the design and installation of the solar thermal cooling system for the UNO Charter School near Midway Airport.

Past projects include the installation of the solar thermal system for the Chicago Cultural Center and the Atlas Community Center.
