Green jobs focus for seminar

The Youth Job Center of Evanston will host a seminar on green collar jobs next month.

The session will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. in Evanston.

The free event, the third in a summer seminar series, will feature a panel of three area employers whose efforts focus on environmentally-friendly practices.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to learn where to find a “green collar” job and the types of skills necessary in this increasingly green economy.

The employers are the Jane Addams Resource Collaboration’s Manufacturing Skills Program, Youth Technology Corps and Growing Home, Inc.

The Youth Job Center of Evanston prepares youth ages 14-25 for success in the workplace through job-readiness, placement and employment support in partnership with employers.
