Two groups have pitched in to help the McGaw YMCA in Evanston help members of its community at the holidays.

Monique Parsons, McGaw YMCA vice president of programs and membership, with Feed Someone Today founder Sandra Farrow.

One contribution is from Feed Someone Today, a new company founded by McGaw YMCA member Sandra Farrow. With the support of the agricultural credit bank CoBank, 160 of the program’s signature bags, full of non-perishable, healthy foodstuffs will help to stock the shelves of McGaw YMCA community members in need of food assistance this month.

Feed Someone Today’s goal is to help nourish those who suffer from hunger and it offers branded products and sponsorship opportunities to further that goal.

The other donation comes from the Warming Hearts & Hands program, a MakeItBetter.net initiative in partnership with several North Shore retailers. When shoppers buy from Make It Better charity auctions or present designated discount coupons to local merchants, the proceeds help to buy winter outerwear for people with limited resources. This winter, the program has provided resident members of the McGaw YMCA community with 141 winter coats.
