More than a dozen block clubs and neighborhood groups around Evanston are planning National Night Out Against Crime events this evening.

If you want to know whether one of the events is in your neighborhood, you can check the map prepared by the Evanston Police Department.

The events generally run between 6 and 9 p.m. but starting times may vary.

Traditionally one of the biggest events is held by the Evanston Community Development Corporation at the corner of Church Street and Dodge Avenue — which includes a community picnic at 6 p.m. with remarks from local officials and candlelight vigil starting around 7 p.m.
