Gun found with body at lake shore

Evanston police say they recovered a revolver next to the body of a man found on the lake shore Sunday morning.

Evanston police say they recovered a revolver next to the body of a man found on the lake shore Sunday morning.

Commander Tom Guenther says police were called to the scene about 11:30 a.m. by a resident of the 900 block of Edgemere Court who discovered the body.

Guenther says police found the body had a gunshot wound to the head.

The body was reportedly found on rocks by the shore, partially submerged in the water.

The man was fully clothed and Guenther says it appears the incident may have been a suicide, although the investigation is still underway.

A spokesman for the county medical examiner’s office said autopsy results were not yet available late this morning.

Guenther said the identity of the victim is not yet known.
