The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Saturday, warning that we could see six inches or more of snow along with northeasterly wind gusting over 40 mile per hour.
The forecast says widespread blowing snow could reduce visibility, especially along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Heaviest snowfall rates are expected between noon Saturday and midnight. That will be followed by some of the coldest air so far this season on Sunday, bringing sub-zero wind chills into early Monday morning.
The City of Evanston says it will offer free parking in the Maple Avenue garage from Saturday through Thursday, and at the Sherman Plaza and Church Street garages on Saturday and Sunday.
Snow parking restrictions are likely to be in effect. Details about those regulations are available online.
