The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Chicago area effective until 7 p.m. tonight. And Evanston health officials have asked us to remind you about a set of tips for dealing with the heat they issued earlier this month.

The weather service says heat index values are expected to remain around 105 degrees this afternoon, before decreasing tonight.

The temperature in Evanston now is well into the 90s, although a strong southwest wind is at least keeping the air moving.

Thunderstorms are expected tonight, with the low temperature expected to fall only to about 76 degrees.

Somewhat cooler weather is due for tomorrow.
