The National Weather Service says Evanston could get up to two inches of rain Wednesday afternoon and evening.

That’s led the City of Evanston to issue a request that residents postpone non-time-critical water usage Wednesday.

The city says postponing doing laundry, taking baths and showers and washing dishes can help the sewers safely handle more stormwater and reduce the risk of basement and street flooding.

The weather service says we can also expect gusty winds today of 30 to 40 miles per hour as a front comes through that will drop temperatures from an expected high around 60 degrees Wednesday to just 40 degrees on Thursday.
