The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning and a tornado watch for Evanston.

The high wind warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. tonight and the tornado watch is in effect until 4 p.m.

There’s also the prospect of severe thunderstorms and a warning for gale-force winds goes into effect at 8 p.m. through 4 a.m. Monday morning. 

City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz says public works crews are driving around picking up any miscellaneous road construction materials and other objects that might blow away.

He says forestry crews are also mobilizing as maybe needed to deal with any downed trees.
