Widely scattered power outages have been reported across Evanston this afternoon most apparently caused by today’s high winds knocking tree limbs into power lines.

Alderman Ann Rainey, 8th Ward, reports Oakton School has been without power since the noon hour.

Power failed for about an hour at mid-afternoon at the 10-story office building at 500 Davis St. A power surge knocked out computers at the offices of the Evanston Roundtable at 1124 Florence Ave. And local resident Vito Brugliera says power was out in the area around Wesley Avenue and Dempster Street at mid-afternoon as well.

Power reportedly has been restored now at most of the affected locations.
