Update 6:00 p.m.: The Charter One Bank at 1325 Howard St. in Evanston was robbed about 9:30 this morning.

Evanston police, responding to a 911 call about the robbery, interviewed witnesses who said a man entered the bank, showed the teller a note and demanded money.

Police Commander Tom Guenther says that, after he got an undetermined amount of cash, the man fled from the bank in an unknown direction.

Guenther says police believe the same man may have held up the same bank branch back on May 8.

Evanston Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be conducting a joint investigation.

Guenther says witnesses described the robber as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’9” to 5’11” tall, with a thin build, grey hair, unkempt facial hair, a mustache and bad teeth, but no accent.

He reportedly was wearing a baseball-style cap, possibly blue in color with letter on front, as well as a black jacket with a crest on left breast and dark pants.
