City of Evanston facility closures and service delays for the holidays start today, Christmas Eve.

Refuse Collection

There’ll be no trash or recyling collections today or on Christmas Day. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday trash and recycling collections will occur two days later than normal this week. Friday condo trash and recycling collections will be delayed one day, to Saturday.

During the New Year’s holiday week, no trash or recycling collections will occur on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Wednesday and Thursday collections will occur one day later than usual. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on schedule, but Friday condo trash collections will occur on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Facilities

The Civic Center will be closed today, tomorrow and Jan. 1.

All Evanston Public Library locations will close at 3 p.m. today and will be closed tomorrow. All library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will be closed on Jan. 1.

The schedule for recreation facilities is as follows:

  • The Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed today, tomorrow and Jan. 1, and will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. 
  • The Ecology Center will be closed  today, tomorrow and Jan. 1.
  • The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be closed  today, tomorrow and Jan. 1, and will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • The Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center will be closed today through Dec. 28 and on Jan. 1.
  • The Levy Center closed Dec. 16 for annual cleaning and maintenance and will remain closed through Christmas day. The Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26-28. During New Year’s week, the Levy Center will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will be closed Jan. 1.
  • The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed  today, tomorrow and Jan. 1, and will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • The Robert Crown Community Center will be closed  today, tomorrow and Jan. 1.

The City’s 311 Center will close at 4 p.m. today and on Dec. 31, and will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
