Home sharing can help during recession

The City of Evanston has provided funds to support a homesharing program operated by the Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs.

The program facilitates compatible matches between prospective housemates.

The arrangement provides extra income to homeowners to help them pay their mortgage, utilities and property taxes.

The program facilitates compatible matches between prospective housemates.

The arrangement provides extra income to homeowners to help them pay their mortgage, utilities and property taxes.

And it provides affordable housing for renters with low or moderate wage jobs.

City support for the program comes from funds available through the federal government’s Community Development Block Grant program.
