By the end of October Levy Senior Center members in Evanston will be riding a brand new 22-passenger bus thanks to the sponsors and attendees at the “Get On The Bus” fundraising event organized by the Levy Senior Center Foundation.

More than 250 people attended the event on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the center. They were treated to games, food, dancing and music by Evanston’s own South Boulevard Band.

With the City of Evanston committing to half the cost of the $60,000 bus, the Foundation more than reached its goal of raising $30,000.

The event also included a raffle and silent auction for items ranging from an iWatch to Cubs tickets.

“We are thrilled with the success of the event and the support we received from area businesses and organizations,” said event chair Judy Newton. “Levy Center employees and the City of Evanston really came through for us to make certain everything went smoothly.”
