An estimated 500 to 600 young people turned out at the Evanston Public Library this afternoon to take part in the Youth Job Center of Evanston’s spring job fair.

Job seekers confer with potential employers in the library’s community room.

With the latest local jobless figures showing an increase, Jordan Burghardt, the centers employer outreach coordinator, noted that those conditions make it especially difficult for someone to find their first job.

About two dozen employers from the passenger rail service Amtrak to the collections agency Van Ru Credit Corp. were represented at the event.
