Mark your calendars for Haven Musical, “Fiddler on the Roof.” Performances take place 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20.

This Tony Award winning musical is based on Tevye and His Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of six daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives.

This year’s play is truly a team effort, with over 175 seventh and eighth grade students involved in every aspect of the production as assistant directors, actors, singers, dancers, stage crew, lighting, costumes, props, technology, sound and make-up.

The show is being directed and choreographed by Betsy Quinn, Haven drama teacher and arts department chair. The music director and set designer is Tom Tobin, Haven music teacher. Media Arts Teacher Melissa Harris is designing projections and video elements. Drama teacher Jenna Rosenzweig is overseeing props.

Music teacher Sandy Kozlowski is the accompanist for the show. Seven talented Northwestern University theatre students, Courtney Blackwell, Brian Bower, Sam Greszes, Lakhiyia Hicks, Douglas Hosking, Dena Propis and Alex Ryser are also involved in the production. Because of the generous support of the Haven Middle School Booster Club, this play is open to the public, free of charge.
