Road resurfacing work is scheduled to begin on Emerson Street and on Isabella Street in Evanston on April 18.

This project involves sewer repair, spot curb replacement, base patching, selected sidewalk replacement, driveway aprons, grinding & paving asphalt surface, striping and landscaping.

The roadwork is a part of the city’s continuing program to improve the road system throughout the community. The project is state funded and there will be no direct charge to the property owners on this project.

The Isabella work is a joint project with Village of Wilmette and the City of Evanston will be the lead agency.

The work on Isabella runs from Ewing Avenue east to Green Bay Road.

On Emerson the work area runs from Leland Avenue near the North Shore Channel east to Asbury Avenue.

The entire project expected to be fully completed by mid June.

Specific dates for construction in each block will be noted on the temporary no parking signs posted 48 hours before the start of work. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for abutting residents, but workers will attempt to minimize these problems.

Evening and nighttime parking will always be available. Street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius of the construction zone when temporary daytime no parking restrictions are in effect.

The contractor for the project is Chicagoland Paving Contractors, Inc., located at 225 Telser Road in Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

The project is under the supervision of the City of Evanston’s Division of Transportation. The Resident Engineer in the field will be Michael Carrara. He will be directly responsible for all aspects of the construction.

Residents with questions can call the resident engineer at 847-980-3400.

Questions about the street resurfacing projects in general should be directed to Sat Nagar, the city's senior engineer at 847-866-2967.
