Wildcat Purple is in fashion today around Evanston — and not just in the water in the fountains at Fountain Square. A certain city manager was seen this morning wearing a purple sweatshirt downtown, and a crowd is expected at an NU pep rally from 6 to 7 p.m. at Independence Park on Central Street.

Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro, Coach Fitz, the players and cheerleaders along with the NU and ETHS marching bands will all be there.
There will be giveaways and selected businesses will offer promotions to people wearing purple.
On Saturday Northwestern and the city are teaming up to host Evanston Day at Ryan Field as the Wildcats take on Eastern Illinois. Kick-off is at 2:30 pm. And discount tickets are available for Evanston residents who enter the promotion code “PURPLE” at the NUSports.com website.
