Now that we’ve experienced the vernal equinox — it happened at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, in case you wondered — it’s time to think spring cleanup.

The City of Evanston will offer free pickup for up to six cubic yards of bulk trash on Fridays next month.

Bulk trash pickup for residents whose normal refuse collection day is:

  • Wednesday will be Friday, April 5
  • Thursday will be Friday, April 12
  • Monday will be Friday, April 19
  • Tuesday will be Friday, April 26

Condo buildings served by Lakeshore Recycling, the city’s condo trash service provider, can participate in bulk trash pickup according to the residential schedule above based on their location (view map).

Condos that privately contract for trash and recycling services are not able to participate in the City’s bulk pickup program.

More information about the program is available online.

Weekly food and yard waste collections for the 2019 season start on Monday, April 1.

Collections will occur on residents’ regular refuse and recycling collection days through Thursday, Dec. 12.

More information about that program is also available online.
