Flashy wheels or plain, the City of Evanston wants its annual fee for having a car here.
Wheel tax renewal notices are scheduled to go out next Wednesday, Oct. 28, and payments for the tax and for residential parking permits will be accepted starting Monday, Nov. 2.
The deadline to pay the wheel tax and purchase parking permits is Tuesday, Dec. 15.
All vehicles registered through the Illinois Secretary of State to an Evanston address are required to pay the annual wheel tax.
License plate recognition devices on city parking enforcement vehicles are used to check for compliance — the city no longer issues vehicle stickers.
Payments can be made online or by mail or at the city collector’s office in the Civic Center as well as at the Levy Center, the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center and at currency exchanges in Evanston.
The cost for a regular passenger car vehicle sticker is $75. Rates for other vehicle types and more information is available onlne.
