Stuck at your current job and can’t see how you’ll get a promotion? The Youth Job Center of Evanston is hosting a workshop on how to break through that barrier.

The free workshop, from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 13 at the Evanston Public Library, will discuss mentoring and job-shadowing, the importance of networking and informational interviews, and professional certifications for high-growth industries.

“It’s important that our community partners and jobseekers are aware of opportunities available to them in industries that are projected to have high-growth in the coming years,” says Employment Outreach Coordinator Jordan Burghardt. “We want to keep our job seekers ahead of the curve.”

The YJC will hold another workshop in August on when and how to expunge a criminal record, with a panel of experts for job seekers to speak with about their own situations. The sessions are open to all ages.
