The Youth Job Center is helping bridging the digital divide with its new Community Technology Center opening later this month.

The center will be open to the public 16 hours a week, Monday through Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. starting March 26.

It has 24 work stations equipped with the most up-to-date software and all will be connected to the internet.

Classes at the center will begin Monday, April 2, and range from introduction to computers and the internet to basic and advanced Microsoft Office Suite programs. To register, call 847-864-5627.

YJC leaders say strong computer skills and computer access are critical to conducting a successful job search today.

The center is designed to provide reliable access to to computers and technology training.

The center has been funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Eliminate the Digital Divide Program, the Pierce Family Foundation and other Evanston family foundations.
