Liz Jolie missed a top 10 finish by one shot and earned 11th place with a season-best score of 90 at the Central Suburban League girls conference golf tournament at Sunset Valley Golf Course in Highland Park.

The Evanston junior led the Wildkits to 7th place finish overall in a field of nine teams with a score of 402.

Also competing for ETHS were Peggy Giordano with a 96, Tina Giordano with a 101, Grace Buzko-Clark with a 115, Morgan Maslauski with a 115 and Sophie Kihm with a 118.

While Giordano, usually the squad’s No. 1 golfer, uncharacteristically struggled with several 3-putt holes, Jolie’s short game almost helped her crack the top 10.

“All the girls drove really well today,” said Evanston coach Karilyn Joyce. “Just like for most teams, it all comes down to putting and chipping. I know Liz’s putting is getting much better compared to the other tournaments this year.”

The Wildkits will compete next Wednesday in the Illinois High School Association regional tournament at Glencoe Golf Course.
