Beaches in Evanston open on Saturday — and with this week’s warmer weather, it feels like that’s just in time.

With the recent rise in Lake Michigan water levels the strip of sand along the shore will be narrower than you may remember from recent years, but there’ll still be enough to catch some sun before or after a wade in the water.

There’s a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, but the Memorial Day holiday on Monday is expected to be sunny and pleasant and high temperatures in the mid-70s are expected all three days.

You’ll need a beach token to go on the sand. Details about pricing for those and beach operating hours are available on the city website.
