A crowd of kids from Evanston schools were on hand at this evening’s City Council meeting to get awards for their participation in the city’s annual paint-our-plows competition.
The largest turnout by far was of students from St. Athanasius School, who won the prize for having the plow that best established the theme of “Get Active — Walk, Run Play.”
The Evanston Choice Award — the prize voted on in online balloting by local residents — was won by Chute Middle School, with 671 out of the total of 2,343 votes cast.
And the awards chosen by Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl went to Lincoln Elementary School and Haven Middle School.
Evanston volunteers honored.
In another award ceremony this evening, volunteers who participated in the city’s 150th Anniversary goal of having 150,000 volunteer hours contributed to community projects were honored for their efforts.
