Students in Evanston/Skokie School District 65 will take part in the American Heart Association’s “Jump Rope and Hoops For Heart” program the week of Feb. 12.

This initiative organized by the district’s physical education teachers, supports health and wellness and helps raise funds for heart research for the American Heart Association.

Information about the program and how to support the events will be sent home with students. More information is available at the local schools.

Haven Middle School
Haven, at 2417 Prairie Ave., will host a Scholastic Book Fair on Feb. 11-13 in the school’s Auditorium. Shopping hours are Wednesday 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; Thursday 2:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Featured books include award winners, middle school favorites as well as adult bestsellers. Credit cards accepted. Proceeds from the fair will benefit the Library Media Center.

Lincoln Elementary School
Warm Up to the Arts Silent Auction & Party takes place Saturday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Prairie Moon 1502 Sherman Ave.

It’s not just an event to support great cultural arts programming, but it is also a great opportunity for Lincoln parents and supporters to get to know each other in a grown-up setting.

Silent auction items include theater tickets, party packages, sports tickets and much more. There will be music, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and lots of fun. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. 

Oakton Elementary School
On Saturday, Feb. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m., the “For The Love Of Oakton” fundraiser takes place, featuring live performances from the Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, a potluck meal, silent auction, free childcare for participants, and much more.

The event is open to the public and will be held at the school at 436 Ridge Ave. For more information, call 847 859-8800.
