The City of Evanston’s budget and finance manager, Ashley King, has been named interim chief financial officer and city treasurer while the city conducts a search to fill the position permanently.

City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz announced the appointment late Friday. King will fill the job left vacant when the city’s previous CFO, Marty Lyons, left last month to take a position with the City of Aurora.

King has worked for the City of Evanston since 2012 and has served as Budget Manager since 2014. Prior to working in Evanston, King was also the Assistant to the Town Manager in Munster, Indiana.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University in Kentucky and a master’s degree in public administration from Indiana University. She and her husband and five-month-old son live in Chicago.

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.
