Kingsley Elementary School students are the 2008 District 65 Battle of the Books champions. Dawes School hosted the May 15th event.
This year’s book selections were varied by topic and genre, ranging from Blue Balliett’s “Chasing Vermeer,” to Frederick Douglass’ “Escape from Slavery: The Boyhood of Frederick Douglass in His Own Words,” and Jerry Spinelli’s “Maniac Magee.”
Battle of the Books follows a three-round format with teams advancing based on number of points.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in Battle of the Books, and especially to the “Chasing Jackie Robinsons” of Kingsley school: Natty Bernstein, Rachel Clemens, Emily Mohrenweiser; and faculty members Elizabeth Warren and Corrine Hatcher.
