The Evanston Wildkits varsity came back from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and then eventually beat Deerfield 4-3 in nine innings a CSL crossover game Thursday.
In the seventh, Marty Fenn started the inning with a single up the middle. Mackenzie O’Neil then singled, Nate Brieva walked and then Joe Franke singled in two runs to tie the game at 3.
In the ninth, Brieva started the inning with a single, Alex Klier bunted him over to 2nd base, Jackson Mihevc hit an infield single, Charlie Maxwell was then intentionally walked to load the bases. Jack Blanchard then hit a fly ball to center field that scored Brieva for the 4-3 victory.
On the mound Zach Anderson came on in the seventh and pitched two scoreless innings for the victory. Martin Fenn started, going five innings and only giving up two hits. Joe Franke relieved for two before Anderson came on in the seventh.
Charlie Maxwell reached base all five times for the Kits going 4 for 4. Fenn had two hits and Blanchard had two RBI on the day.
The Kits are now 19-11-1 and wrap up their home season against Gordon Tech tomorrow. On Saturday, they finish the season at Lake Zurich and next week they play in the Notre Dame Regional starting on Wednesday afternoon.
