It wasn’t pretty, but for the second game in a row, the Evanston Boys lacrosse team found some offense in the 4th quarter.

This time it was enough to edge out the St. Ignatius Wolfpack on Tuesday, and continue on to play another game in the Illinois State Lacrosse A-level playoff tournament.

The Defense kept the clamps on led by Junior Goalie Marcello Porter-Dunning’s 11 save performance.  Sophomore Nick Lydon won 8 of 11 faceoffs.

Turnovers due to sloppy ball handling and poor shot quality stunted the Kits’ possession time and therefore ketp them out of the scorebook for most of the contest.

Sam O’Donnell was credited with the game winner after his “dump the puck in front…good things happen” shot was barely stopped then tipped in by a Wolfpack defender intending to help his sprawling goalie.

Wildkit Scoring: Jake Casati: G-1,A-1; Charlie Cunninghame: G-1; Sam O’Donnell: G-1, Sam Mayne: G-1, Defenseman Jack Lydon: G-1.

In their next playoff game on Thursday, Wildkits will travel to Lincolnshire for a rematch with #6 seeded Stevenson H.S.

The underdog Wildkit squad played best half of the season at Stevenson on May 8 to jump to a 5-1 halftime lead and hung on to win 6-4 to spoil the Patriot’s Senior Night.  This Thursday’s game is currently list as 5 p.m., but the start time may change.
