The Evanston Wildkits edged the Highland Park Giants 11-10 in a home-field thriller Thursday.

The match at Lazier Field saw the Wildkits overcome an error- and penalty-filled first quarter to claw back to finally tie the game at 9-9 late in the fourth.

The Wildkits took a 10-9 lead, but the Giants managed to tie it again with around two minutes left.

The final two minutes were frenetic, ending with a dramatic game winning goal by Zack Sandler with 12 seconds left in regulation.

Defensive “long stick midfielder” Jack Egofske, a junior, was an all-around force. He picked up 12 ground balls, many of which were turnovers that he forced, shut-down HP’s primary offensive midfielders and contributed one goal and one assist each at momentum-crucial moments.

Wildkit scoring leaders:  Zack Nauert (Senior): G-3, A-0;  Aidan Crowe (Sophomore): G-2, A-0; Josh Easington (Junior): G-2, A-0, Charlie Cunningham (Sophomore): G-1, A-1, Zach Sandler (Senior): G-1 (GW), A-1.
