A six-bedroom house on Evanston’s lakefront has sold for a record setting $4.9 million.
The mansion at 115 Dempster St., across from a lakefront park, sold Friday. The sale was first reported by Real Estate Daily.
The 10,000-square-foot Georgian Revival home designed by Earnest Mayo had been extensively remodeled by the sellers, John and Eileen Henderson, who bought it for $1.4 million in 1992.
They’d listed the house for sale in May for $5.29 million.
The previous record price for an Evanston home was $4.5 million paid for a Sheridan Road estate in 2004.
Thanks to sellers for adding to the beauty of the lakefront!
I had the privilege of being part of the team of architects who designed and coordinated the remodeling of this property with Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. As clients, they were excellent listeners and generous supporters of the ideas to bring the house to its current state. I wish them well in their future endeavors!
