Some traffic lanes on Ridge Avenue from Clark to Church streets in Evanston will be closed starting today so new water and sewer lines can be installed a the new apartment building under construction.

The road work for the eight-story building on the long-vacant Sienna site at 1717 Ridge Ave.is expected to last about two weeks.

At various times either the center lanes or outside lanes will be closed as different parts of the project are being completed.

Update 2:10 p.m.: City officials now say the lane closures likely will only be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, unless unforeseen conditions require extending the closure hours.

The work is being done by Focus Construction, Inc. of Northfield. Residents with questions about the project can call the company’s project engineer, Tom Cahill, at 847-276-7977 or the City of Evanston’s engineering division at 311.
