The City of Evanston is asking community members to join together Saturday, March 28 to make a statement on climate change by participating in Earth Hour 2009.

Evanston residents and businesses are invited to turn off non-essential lights between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. that day and make Earth Hour 2009 a truly regional and global event.

“What better way for our residents and businesses to say ‘I care’ about conserving energy,” said Carolyn Collopy, sustainable programs coordinator for the City of Evanston.

Evanston community members can find out more about the World Wildlife Fund-sponsored project online.
