The Evanston Public Library has named Wynn Shawver as its chief development officer.

Shawver will oversee all aspects of the Library’s development efforts, including individual giving, corporate and foundation grants, planned and estate giving, prospect research and donor relations.

Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons says Shawver will create and implement strategy to meet the library’s long-term financial goals, including initiatives such as building the endowment, the director’s discretionary fund and plans for outreach throughout the community.

“Strategic fundraising is critical to the future of Evanston Public Library,” said Danczak Lyons. “In this newly created role, Wynn will help us identify the philanthropic interests of donors who want to advance the educational, cultural and economic value of a strong public library.”

“Through the cultivation of meaningful relationships, foundation and corporate support and other community partnerships,” she added, “we now have a major opportunity to expand revenue beyond taxpayer support to better serve the citizens of Evanston.”

Shawver, an ETHS and Northwestern graduate, and Evanston resident, most recently was regional director of development, planned and major gifts for Loyola University in Chicago.
