If you want to use Evanston Public Library resources over the internet, well, for the moment, you can’t.

The library website, epl.org, was down Wednesday afternoon and evening and remains inaccessible this morning.

Library administrator Paul Gottschalk said the problem appeared to involve DNS, or domain name servers, that connect the library to the outside world.

He said library staff had been able to reach the website from inside the building Wednesday.

However, it could not be reached from within the building using the library’s public access Wi-Fi connection during Wednesday’s Library Board meeting.

Gottschalk was unable to offer an estimate Wednesday evening on when the service would be restored.

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.
