The National Weather Service says light snow is expected to develop around Evanston late this afternoon and continue into this evening.
Edgar Cano of the city’s Public Works Agency says roads have been pretreated and crews are on alert.
The weather service says less than an inch of snow is expected, and Cano says he expects the snow to accumulate mainly on cold spots and elevated surfaces.
“Our main concern would be refreeze of damp pavement once surface temperatures drop,” he says.
The snow is expected to end before dawn Saturday.
