Evanston received a little over an inch of snow overnight and some lake-effect flakes may add less than a quarter inch more during the day today.

That’s the word from Edgar Cano of Evanston’s Public Works Agency, who says sun peaking through the clouds may also help warm pavement enough to help with snow cleanup efforts.

Then overnight tonight we can look for an additional half inch of snow.

Cano says primary and secondary routes are wet and crews have started to move into residential streets. Sidewalk and parking lot crews will be starting another pass on their routes.

Looking ahead, he says we could get a trace to a tenth of an inch of snow on Saturday between 1 and  8 a.m. and then an additional half inch on Sunday.
