Metra trains on the Union Pacific North line through Evanston are experiencing substantial delays this morning after an outbound train was struck by lightning in Rogers Park.

The lighning strike caused mechanical problems on the train. Some trains are now running an hour or more behind schedule and some are either running express past several stops or starting short their normal starting point.

Details on the delays are available on the Metra website
