Cheers for U.S. House and Senate races

A lot of cheering at the Democratic Party gathering in Evanston this evening as television networks called various U.S. House and Senate races … with a goodly number going to the Democrats.

Update 12:22 a.m.: As of early Wednesday morning, it appeared Democrats had secured a continued majority in the U.S. Senate, with 52 seats, a gain of one. The U.S. House will remain under the control of the Republicans, with a total of perhaps 209 seats, which would be a gain of one seat for the GOP.
